Our editorial mission
We cover local government, schools, public safety, business, arts, events, neighborhoods, real estate, and the people shaping Oro Valley. We prioritize information that helps residents understand their community and make informed decisions.
Accuracy and verification
We aim to verify names, dates, locations, quotations, statistics, and material claims before publication. Whenever practical, we rely on direct interviews, public records, official documents, firsthand observation, and clearly identified primary sources. Unconfirmed claims are attributed and presented with appropriate context.
Fairness and independence
People and organizations that are the subject of significant criticism should have a reasonable opportunity to respond. Coverage decisions are made for editorial reasons. Advertisers, sponsors, and commercial partners do not receive advance review or control of independent editorial coverage.
Opinion, sponsored, and submitted material
Opinion, commentary, press releases, contributed articles, and paid or sponsored material should be clearly labeled so readers can distinguish them from independently reported news. Sponsored relationships do not guarantee favorable coverage.
Sources and conflicts
We identify sources whenever possible. Confidential sources may be used when the information serves a strong public interest and cannot reasonably be obtained on the record. Contributors should disclose financial, personal, or professional conflicts that could affect their work.
Artificial intelligence
Technology may assist with research, transcription, organization, or editing, but published factual claims remain subject to human review. We do not knowingly publish fabricated quotations, sources, events, or images as fact.
