Construction starts next week at Catalina State Park wash crossing.

Catalina State Park will begin construction on a new wash crossing for the main park road the week of Oct. 19, 2026, according to a press release.

The wash crossing will keep park access open during heavy rain events that can cause flash flooding.

Construction is expected to continue until May 2027.

All park activities, including day use and camping, will continue without interruption during the construction project.

Visitors can expect extra noise and traffic, as well as construction vehicles, workers and posted detours along the main park road where the Cañada del Oro wash crosses.

The new wash crossing will ensure reliable access year-round.

The park will post updates as work progresses.

For questions, contact the park during Visitor Center hours at 520-628-5798.
