Oro Valley launches initiative to boost local spending

The Town of Oro Valley and the Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce launched Shop Oro Valley, a community-wide initiative designed to strengthen the local economy and encourage residents to shop locally first.

The initiative comes in response to findings from a March 2025 retail leakage analysis revealing that approximately 13.4 million shopping and dining trips were made outside Oro Valley.

That represents an estimated $1.18 billion in spending and approximately $17.2 million in potential local sales tax revenue.

Keeping more of those dollars in Oro Valley helps fund essential Town services, including roads, parks and public safety.

Built around four pillars—Shop, Dine, Play and Live—Shop Oro Valley highlights the many ways residents and visitors can support Oro Valley's local economy.

At the center of the initiative is ShopOVAZ.com, a new online hub designed to educate Oro Valley residents and make discovering and supporting Oro Valley businesses easier.

For participating businesses, Shop Oro Valley offers added visibility and a dedicated business liaison from the Chamber who will work directly with local businesses to identify opportunities for involvement.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the initiative, discover local businesses and learn how to participate at www.ShopOVAZ.com.
