More Than a Tournament: Community Impact
The Pickle-icious Jingle Jam is more than just a sporting event; it is an opportunity to make a difference. Each year, participants, sponsors, and volunteers contribute to the mission of We Care Tucson, helping deliver essential technology and medical equipment to families in need. This partnership extends beyond the courts, building connections between athletes, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations. The tournament creates a ripple effect of support throughout the Oro Valley area, demonstrating how sports can be a vehicle for positive change. By taking part, players and attendees know that their efforts have a direct impact on the well-being of the community.
Why the Oro Valley Community Center Is a Premier Venue
The Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center is more than a backdrop; it is part of the event’s identity. Originally built as part of the El Conquistador Country Club, the facility was acquired by the Town of Oro Valley in 2015. Since then, it has undergone improvements to better serve residents, visiting athletes, and community organizations. An elevator installation in 2023 addressed long-standing ADA access concerns, making the entire facility more inclusive for all participants and spectators.
For an overview of the pickleball courts and their amenities, visit the Oro Valley Community Center Pickleball Courts on Pickleheads.
Today, the center features 10 outdoor pickleball courts with permanent nets and concrete surfaces, shaded bleachers, and easy access to restrooms and concessions. Players will appreciate the spacious locker rooms, ample parking, and views of the Catalina Mountains. In addition to sports amenities, the complex includes fitness areas, racquetball courts, and multipurpose rooms available for meetings or recovery sessions.
Its central location near Catalina State Park, Steam Pump Ranch, and Oro Valley Marketplace makes it ideal for out-of-town guests staying for the full tournament weekend. The site continues to host not just athletic events, but also civic meetings, health fairs, and arts programming year-round, reinforcing its role as a true public resource.
