Casey Carrillo, executive director of the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI), has been appointed to the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, according to a University of Arizona Tech Parks press release earlier this month.
UACI is part of Tech Parks Arizona, which connects academic research to private industry.
Carrillo’s role at UACI
Before joining UACI, Carrillo worked with the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management and with the university’s Office of Digital Learning.
At UACI, she leads a network of incubator programs that support science and technology startups in the region.
The University of Arizona Tech Parks release says UACI has supported more than 300 companies.
UACI programs in Oro Valley
Since 2020, the UACI Oro Valley outpost has been located near Innovation Park. The facility provides lab space, offices, and business resources for bioscience and technology companies.
In partnership with the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce, UACI has launched Sponsored Launch programs.
Chamber President and CEO Kristen Sharp was quoted in the Tech Parks release. She said the appointment is an addition to the board and cited Carrillo’s experience in entrepreneurship and regional growth.
