A Three-Year Boost for Pickleball in Oro Valley
This isn’t just a one-off event—the organizers have made a three-year commitment to keep the Jingle Jam going strong in Oro Valley. Local nonprofit We Care Tucson is at the heart of it, turning tournament proceeds into real help for families in need, like technology for students and medical equipment for folks facing health challenges. That mix of fun, competition, and giving back is a big part of why so many people look forward to this weekend.
If you’ve watched pickleball explode in popularity lately, you know Oro Valley is right in the middle of the action. The Pickle-icious Jingle Jam draws everyone—from first-timers just wanting to try the sport, to die-hard competitors hoping to take home a medal. Why the Jingle Jam Matters for the Community
People say the Jingle Jam is about more than pickleball. Every year, volunteers, local sponsors, and players team up to help We Care Tucson make a difference for families across Pima County. If you join in, you’re not just playing a few matches—you’re helping neighbors and making Oro Valley stronger. It’s a great reminder that sports can bring a town together in ways that matter off the court, too.
Oro Valley Community Center: The Heart of It All
The Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center is more than just a place to play. Locals remember when it was part of El Conquistador Country Club, and since the town took it over in 2015, the upgrades have been nonstop. The elevator, added in 2023, finally made it easy for everyone to enjoy the whole facility, and that’s just one example of how inclusive it’s become.
There are 10 outdoor pickleball courts here, all with permanent nets and quality surfaces. You’ll find shaded bleachers for fans, easy access to parking, and great views of the Catalinas. Between games, players can use the spacious locker rooms, grab a snack, or just relax with friends. The center also has fitness rooms, racquetball courts, and meeting spaces if you need a place to regroup or celebrate.
The center is right in the heart of Oro Valley, not far from Catalina State Park, Steam Pump Ranch, and the Oro Valley Marketplace. Whether you’re local or coming in from out of town, it’s easy to find things to do between matches—or make a weekend of it.
Tips for Players and Fans
If you’re new to tournaments, show up early and give yourself time to check out the facility. Try a clinic, meet other players, and get comfortable on the courts before your first match. Even though December is mild here, mornings can be chilly, so bring an extra layer along with your hat and sunscreen. If you’ve got family in tow, the Fun Zone has plenty to keep everyone happy, and the Oro Valley Marketplace is a popular spot for lunch or shopping breaks. Returning fans will notice more shaded seating and food trucks this year, plus new amenities based on player feedback.
